DAY 3:
FLIPPING TABLES

PASSAGES

Matthew 21:9-17
Colossians 3:1-17

KEY VERSE

Colossians 3:5
"Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”

REFLECTION

Jesus didn’t flip tables because He lost His temper. He flipped them because the temple was being abused. The temple was meant to be a place of prayer, healing, and praise. But it had turned into a place of noise, distraction, and personal gain. So, in a dramatic act of righteous anger, Jesus cleared it out boldly, intentionally, and lovingly.

Why? Because once the wrong things were removed, the right things could happen. “The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.” When the tables were flipped, people found healing. When the temple was restored, worship returned. And when the space was cleared, God’s power moved.

Now look at your own life. If your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19), what’s taking up space that shouldn’t be there? Is it greed, ego, insecurity, or comparison? Is your discipline helping you grow closer to God or just quietly feeding your pride? Is your fitness about stewardship or about looking like your favorite influencer?

Repentance is where we flip the tables. We confess what’s off, and we clear the clutter so healing can happen. That’s what Colossians 3:5 calls us to do, “put to death what is earthly in you...“ not manage it, not hide it, but kill it. Because when we do, worship rises again, healing flows, and the temple becomes what it was always meant to be: holy, clean, and full of God’s presence.

PRAYER

  • Ask Him what “tables need to be flipped” in your life.
  • Confess the habits, attitudes, or desires that take up space meant for His Holy Spirit.
  • Pray for His power to transform you, bringing healing, freedom, and renewed worship.
